How do you figure out the best strategy for implementing Enterprise Business Intelligence?
Capgemini and Business Objects have addressed this issue by jointly developing the BI Index, a 6-step process and set of tools to help companies define, predict and measure the value of a proposed BI initiative. This enables the development of a strong, strategically sound business case.
The index measures an organization’s situation in regard to BI. It does this by asking a series of questions from a survey that was designed to touch on areas that historically have been troublesome for most companies. The BI Index enables companies to identify the immediate potential value of BI to determine where they stand versus their competition. It allows customers to gauge the effectiveness of their business intelligence information and provides stimulus to develop a strategy to enable data to be used for competitive advantage. By design, the BI Index is applicable across all industries, sectors, and business units.
The BI Index
The BI Index itself is an on-site strategic assessment conducted by trained Capgemini consultants. A shorter version, BI Index “Lite” is available online and can be completed in less 5 minutes. It will give an initial insight into a specific organization’s current status in relation to Enterprise BI.
