Capgemini’s Enterprise SOA Adoption Program for LSPs
LSPs today are looking for end-to-end integrated application solutions with a flexible architecture.
What’s going on in the LSP market?
Today’s Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) market is highly volatile. Since the
1990s, LSPs have extended their core activities—traditional warehousing and transporting—with
additional services in the area of order fulfillment, back-office services, assembly
and manufacturing.
In parallel to this business enrichment, LSPs have evolved as “directors of the
supply chain,” increasing their supply networks by delivering global supply chain
services. Expanding the LSPs’ range to encompass these new activities has led
to some major acquisitions. For most LSPs, the underlying IT has not grown sufficiently
to support the enlarged business process chain and ecosystem; many LSPs run outdated,
disparate, localized IT systems, only covering the traditional warehouse management
and transport management functionality.
